Technical Information Auto-Motion Shade Electrical Motors
General Information and Motor Features
- All AMS motors are designed and engineered to meet the highest technical standards in the industry. They go through stringent testing at AMS’ ISO 9001-2015 certified facilities and must meet or exceed 30,000 life cycles.
- With the exception of AMS’ Ignition-Lock motor 4270P, all AMS motors, whether built for switch control or radio remote control option equipped, feature mechanical limit switches rather than electronic ones to prevent accidental loss or inadvertent change of limit positions due to power surges, noise, power outages or other electronic interferences.
- 12 Volt motors are all equipped with a Molex Connector at each power wire to allow easy and quick disconnection of motor from the vehicle wiring, without cutting any wires (see Illustration 1 below).
- 24 Volt motors are all equipped with special connector selected by the OEMs to allow easy and quick disconnection of motor from vehicle wiring, without cutting any wires (see illustration 2 below).
- AMS motors do not require any maintenance or servicing over their lifespan.
- AMS motors are equipped with an internal safety spring-clutch that serves as a safety feature in case of an unexpected breakage of a motor shaft; this safety feature would prevent the shade from unravelling, which is particularly important in windshield shades, where an unravelling shade could obstruct the driver’s view while the vehicle is in motion.
- Each motor is equipped with a metal planetary gearbox and metal gears that provides strength and longer durability than gearboxes made with nylon gears.
A large number of help manuals is available on the AMS website under “Support”’ there you will be able to find detailed and illustrated help and tips on such issues as replacing motors, wiring diagrams, pairing of remote controls, troubleshooting of electrical shades, etc. Please visit www.automotionshade.com.
